Pennsylvania Lottery Fund, is now good at all times--there are, no longer, any restricted hours!)
To take advantage of this Senior Citizen ride program, Seniors must
present to the Conductor of The Duquesne Incline(at the Carson Street
Station), or to bus drivers, a
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Senior Citizen Identification
Card(blue for men and yellow for women)[offered, for no charge, by the Port Authority of Allegheny
County], or a valid Medicare Card.
*Passengers with Disabilities may ride The Duquesne Incline,
as well as PAT buses and Light Rail Vehicles, at half of the published rate of fare during
all hours, except one peak hour on business
day mornings (7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.) and one peak hour on business
day
afternoons (4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.), mandated by
Section 504 of the Federal
Rehabilitation Act
of 1973, as amended. To take advantage of the rides for the Disabled
program, Disabled riders must
present to the Conductor of The Duquesne Incline (at the Carson Street
Station), or to bus drivers, a
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Reduced Transit Fare Identification
Card(green or goldenrod)[offered, for no charge, by thePort Authority of Allegheny
County].

[In other words, the only two hours on weekdays, when the the Disability pass cannot be used, are 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.

hours of operation on any holiday, Port Authority bus and rail service is
operated on a holiday schedule during the following six holidays:

Columbus Day--Observed (Second Monday in October)
Veterans' Day/Armistice Day (November 11)**********When this holiday falls on a weekend[Saturday or Sunday], The
Duquesne Incline and the Port Authority Transit system observes the
closest weekday as the holiday [i.e. if the holiday falls on a Saturday,
the previous day (Friday) is observed as the holiday; if the holiday falls
on a Sunday,
the next day (Monday) is observed as the holiday.]
Any Senior Citizen aged 65 or older, who presents a valid Port
Authority Senior Citizen ID card, or a Medicare card, to the Conductor of
The Duquesne Incline at the Carson Street Station(this is where all fares
are paid) is eligible for a free ride . Any
person with a disability, who presents a valid Port Authority disability
card ("Reduced Transit Fare Identification Card") to the Conductor can ride
for half of the published fare.
All Port Authority Transit (PAT) passes, tickets, and current
transfers (including free "CT" continuation transfers****) can be
used to
pay
for
transportation on The Duquesne Incline. Note that Incline tokens have
been discontinued, with the fare increase of 2002 September 1.

***Transfers are valid for, at least, three hours for travel in any
direction.
SPECIAL NOTE: WITH THE TRANSIT FARE INCREASE OF 2002 SEPTEMEBER 1,
INCLINE TOKENS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENT OF PASSENGER FARES ON
THE DUQUESNE INCLINE.
****Free "CT" Continuation Transfers will be issued on request to
passengers transferring between bus route 40 Mt. Washington (formerly designated Port Authority Route 41E) and The
Duquesne Incline, at the Incline's Upper Station on Grandview Avenue in
Duquesne Heights; this same transfer will also be valid for transferring,
again, between buses from Downtown and
the Incline, at the Lower Station. Although two transfers are
involved (i.e. bus to Incline to bus), the fare between any point in Mount
Washington or Duquesne Heights and Downtown Pittsburgh is $2.25 for
adults and $1.10 for children (ages 6-11).
Note that Port Authority Bus Route 43E Mt.
Washington Express (where passengers could obtain a Continuation Transfer only in the outbound direction, after riding The Duquesne Incline), has been discontinued.
