Bus Service serving the Upper Station of
The Duquesne Incline

PAT bus service, serving the Upper Station of The Duquesne Incline, is provided by route 41E Mt. Washington. PAT bus route 41E provides a public transportation link between The Duquesne Incline and all parts of Mount Washington and Duquesne Heights, including the South Hills Junction Light Rail Subway Station. Most 41E buses also stop two blocks from the Upper Station of the Monongahela Incline, on Virginia Avenue past Shiloh Street(at the Foodland supermarket). On weekdays, two morning rush-hour 41E bus runs, and one afternoon rush-hour 41E bus run, stop at the Upper Station of the Monongahela Incline.

Free "CT" Continuation Transfers will be issued, on request, to passengers transferring between bus route 41E Mt. Washington and The Duquesne Incline, at the Incline's Upper Station on Grandview Avenue in Duquesne Heights; this same transfer will also be valid for transferring, again, between buses from Downtown and the Incline, at the Lower Station. Although two transfers are involved(i.e. bus-to-Incline-to-bus), the fare between any point in Mount Washington or Duquesne Heights and Downtown Pittsburgh is $ 1.25.

Route 41E also serves the Station Square shopping complex and the Station Square Light Rail Subway Station(close to the Lower Station of the Monongahela Incline).

In Downtown Pittsburgh, route 41E can be boarded at designated stops on Smithfield and Wood Streets(including a stop on Wood Street at Sixth Avenue, caddy-corner from the Wood Street Light Rail Subway Station), and at the bus stops at Sixth Avenue at Smithfield Street and at Fort Pitt Boulevard at the United Way Building(near Smithfield Street).

Note that this bus route(41E) is wheelchair accessible. Persons using a wheelchair can use bus route 41E to access The Duquesne Incline and the Observation Deck overlooking the beautiful Golden Triangle of Downtown Pittsburgh. For more information about accessibility for the disabled, click here.
