From Downtown Pittsburgh:
Proceed south on the Penn-Lincoln Parkway West[Interstate 279(I-279)
south, U.S. 22 west, U.S. 30 west]
across the Fort Pitt Bridge(crossing the Mononghela River); exit the
expressway immediately after crossing the river(West End exit),
BEFORE
entering the Fort Pitt Tunnel. This exit places you, westbound, on
West Carson Street. The Duquesne Incline is
located less than a block west of the expressway off-ramp. As soon as you
enter West Carson Street, look for signs(on your right) directing you to
free parking for The Duquesne Incline. You will turn right at
the next traffic light, to access this parking lot.
From the Pittsburgh International Airport:
Proceed towards Downtown Pittsburgh on the Airport Expressway, which
becomes the Penn-Lincoln Parkway West[Interstate 279(I-279)
south, U.S. 22 west, U.S. 30 west]. Exit the expressway immediately
before entering the Fort Pitt Tunnel, at the West End exit(PA 51
north). Follow the West End Bypass Expressway(PA 51 north) until it ends
at, what is known as, the West End Circle. Follow the signs directing you
towards Downtown Pittsburgh; these signs will place you, eastbound, on
West Carson Street. Proceed east on West Carson Street, about a
half-mile,
to reach The Duquesne Incline. Immediately after passing the
Gateway View Plaza office and warehouse building(long building on your
left), turn left at traffic light to access the parking lot for The
Duquesne Incline; there is a sign, on your left at this traffic light,
directing you to free Incline parking.
From Station Square:
You may use either West Carson Street, or the Station Square access
road(Station Square Drive)
which parallels the Monongahela and Ohio rivers, to reach The Duquesne
Incline.
Station Square Access Road(Station Square Drive) -
This road runs from the Sheraton Hotel, westward, parallel with the
Monongahela River and then the Ohio River. Shortly after passing under
the Fort Pitt Bridge, and immediately after passing the old
Lawrence Paint Building(on your left), you will come to the parking lot(on
your left) for The Duquesne Incline.
West Carson Street -
Proceed west on West Carson Street and pass under the Fort Pitt Bridge.
The Duquesne Incline is
located less than a block west of the bridge off-ramp, which you will
pass on your right. As soon as you pass this off-ramp, look for signs(on
your right) directing you to
free parking for The Duquesne Incline. You will turn right at
the next traffic light, to access this parking lot.
